The Great Canadian Beavers

So, three out of four of the Great Canadian Beavers have officially landed in the UK! We spent much of yesterday lugging around luggage (ha!) especially when Nick’s trusty duffle bag on wheels decided to get bent out of shape on the plane ride over. It was a rather grueling couple hours getting us girls stuff to the hostel, and then turning around and dragging Nick’s bags to his friend’s house. It will be a relief to have the car, and not have to carry all this camping/survival gear alongside our own clothes etc.

Our first item of business yesterday was OBVIOUSLY to hit up platform 9 and 3/4’s. Hogwarts here we come! We spent a good five minutes debating who would actually go up and ask a staff member where it was, and when Emily finally mustered the courage it turned out she didn’t need to ask anything, the security guard somehow read our minds (perhaps it had something to do with the camera’s and day packs? classic tourists), and pointed us in the right direction. Thank goodness! Wizarding school won’t know what hit it.

We ended up crashing on Nick’s friends couch for the afternoon (thanks Tim!) as we couldn’t check into our hostel immediately, and when we finally dragged ourselves out of nap time at about 9pm, we took off to experience some fo the London nightlife!

We’re hoping to meet up with some other rally teams tonight so wish us luck! Much of this trip has been surreal, and consisted with us realizing where we are, and just what exactly we are doing, and freaking out!

This city rocks so far though!
